Subwoofer Touches Bottom!!! Please Help Fast!!

My box is custom built for the exact specs that i Have for my truck. The pioneers that i have....when put in straight they sort of bottom out and touch the bottom....but if i turn them they will fit flush....Also should i still put a thin layer of polyfill to the bottom...i am filling the box will polyfill. Is it bad for the sub if it touches the the bottom of the box.

I pretty sure that you are supposed to have atleast .5 inch of space between the back of the magnet and the box.

There only needs to be space behind the sub if it has a pole vent in the center of the backplate. Not all subs do. If it doesn't have one feel free to butt it right against the back of the box.

the pioneers do have a vent... however, I am going to assume, that this model pioneer has one of those plastic pretty looking back cover thingos, and also, that the baffel isn't parallel to the back of the box...

if the sub is top mounted and it flexes while the motor is touching the wall it coud make some funny noises

Try taking the magnet cover off as stated if it has one, and you can also shave off the wood (part that the magnet touches), making that portion of the panel slightly thinner, if your box design allows that.

Thanks guys for all the feedback...I did take of the plastic cover and stuck a video camera in the box to see whats happening and it now looks like I have a 1cm or 2 of room... my subs do have the poll tho is that going to be a prob.... I was also thinking of putting a very thin layer of polyfill benith it and more around the sides what do you guys think??

The subwoofer is bottom firing so i dont think that would work...the cone might touch the ground?

Cut a circle where the magnet meets the box, like you are gonna mount a sub on top. THEN, insulate, and bolt down a piece of mdf, to cover that hole. It gives you more depth.

Where are you in cali ?

If you arent to far away i'll make you a spacer for free.

If you dont have room for a spacer i can do a really quick fix with some fiberglass and resin and just make a pocket where the magnet sits.
