ok so i have a rockford fosgate 800IIa amp. the manual says its bridged rms is just under 1000w at 4ohm. it destroyed the first two subs i put in after less then a month. I need to replace them but im on a tight budget. i only want to spend around $100 for two 10in subs that have rms at 1000w. i was looking at these Boss Phantom P106DVC subs. their rms is 1050 at 4ohms but is the brand reliable? all i need are the drivers. i have the enclosure, wiring, etc.

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
You should try to use words and sentences.
thank you. i was trying. the site kept denying my attempts at normal conversation. the giberish was the first thing it accepted. as you can see now i have trouble shot the problem and my post is, in fact, composed of words and sentences

i would get two alpine type rs, never buy anything with boss on it.
holy cow those are over $100 each! they said they were only 600w though.. im pretty sure my amp is just under 1000w rms at 4 ohms bridged. i do want to run two subs off of that one channel if that makes a difference

Yeah, did you try to post a link or something? You're not allowed to post links in the first few posts you have(sort of a precaution against spam/advertising). Editing your post resolves the issue, as I see you've just done.

As for your original post, those Boss subs are overrated(meaning while they say they can handle a continuous 1000W, it's most likely not true). And even if they are capable of handling the power, they're likely to sound like farts. They're pretty much trash.

You probably blew your other subs from clipping, from having the gain set too high.

600+600=1200. They could take more than what your amp will be giving them, and yeah, they're over $100. You probably won't find any quality subwoofers under $100, period.

Are you wanting to have your subs in a sealed box or a ported box?

That is a REALLY good amp. I strongly suggest you STOP doing anything car audio related until you learn what you're doing and damage the amp instead of your subs. The amp was not too much for whatever subs you got, you just set it up wrong...

And those subwoofers are some of the absolute worst products you could buy, not even limited to car audio, but amongst any product for sale in the world.... those woofers are one of the worst purchases you could make. You get what you pay for, and those subwoofers won't take 1000w, and they will sound like a wet fart from Rosie O'Donnell's ass.

The Alpine Type R's would be a great purchase for you, just one of them could take around 800w, and I think that's what you should plan for or save up some more money.

Deadeye: yea i think they went becasue the gain was too high but mostly cuz they were probably garbage too. and about the wattage, i knew that the power got split betweeen the two subs but apparently had a brain fart. those alpines do sound like they would be awesome but do you have any other suggestions? just to do some comparisons and have a bette chance at finding something on sale. and im putting them into a sealed box (both speaker compartments are sealed seperately)

the underfighter: i know the amp is really good and im not an expert or a professional or anything but i do know how to properly wire the amp and subs. i checked about ten times to make sure i did everything right.. im pretty sure i just had the gain too high for the particular garbage speakers i had in there and they fried

maybe look in the classified section here. Finding two decent 10s new for under $100 ain't gonna happen. Also, please learn to set your gain. If you had done it right the first two times, we wouldn't be having this stimulating conversation.

yea im seeing that im gonna have to **** it up and spend more.. but i dont know what types of speakers are going to go with the amp well and i like options!

and yea i srewed up the gains... lesson learned..

what about Kicker L7 12inch drivers? or audiopipe products? or a cerwin vega vmax? or a MTX Thunder 8000 15 4 ohm?
