Subwoofer cut out at high power when engine is running.

Hey, I have a 500w rms dual voice coil 2 ohm sub powered by a kenwood monoblock, 500w rms at 2 ohm, 300w at 4 ohm. I have wired my setup according to the manual for a dual voice coil sub. When the engine is running, the sub will cut out at high level (about mid volume with sub volume up). sometimes it pops and gives dead bass and sometimes it just pops and turns back on. When the car is on accessory it will not cut out or anything. The ground is good as I have grounded the battery to where the amp is grounded. Does anyone know what might be the problem?

so you can play at any volume while the car is off and the amp won't cut out, but when the car is running it will?

you need to monitor a volt meter during this process. one at the amp and one at the battery would be a good thing to know. it's possible you have a failing alternator - that is something to verify with your voltage measurements.

when you say you grounded the amp at the battery ground, i assume the two are close - within 4 feet or so?
