Subwoofer advice needed

Will either of those subs get me flat response down to at least 30Hz?
The other subs you listed seem like a good deal provided they do what I need.
No sub will be flat with your current sealed box, it'll be linear though, will drop off pretty steep after 30hz. You'll need a properly engineered SQ ported/T-line/4th/6th order or Aperiodic chamber box (custom to driver specs and room acoustics) geared for flat if you want a true flat response thats even from 25hz to 150hz.

That being said a Dayton HO 15 should do fairly well in that particular sealed when paired with a bash 500 watt plate amp or a dayton 1000 amp.

I had figured no sub would be completely flat in those boxes.

Home setup. The room itself is 12' X 12' and has a resonant frequency of 40Hz so it could be that even though the response isn't flat to 30Hz maybe the room will make up for it.

I say flat to 30Hz, because I'm pretty sure that flat to 20Hz is not gonna happen unless I drop some serious cash.

Now if I ported those boxes I saw some subs that would go down to 20Hz fairly flat, but I have never really liked a ported box.

Unfortunately the Daytons are out of my budget right now so I may try the other subs. If they don't work good enough I'm sure I can find a use for them elsewheres or perhaps sell them to someone who just wants bass without caring much about quality.

box is way too small to port, it'll be a disaster. Ported boxes need more finess to get right then sealed.

with your sealed box 20hz is still attainable with the dayton HO or ultimax if you feed them proper power 500+ and not those pansy 100-300 watt amps. Just EQ down the 40hz region to keep it from being boomy and overpowering.

The amp will most likely be a Yamaha P2500S or a nice Carver TFM series amp. The whole system is actively amplified with a 24 db/octave active crossover.

So if I use either of those subs what would the F3 be?

35hz with the ultimax if you stuff the box with 3lbs of polyfill. The HO F3 is a bit higher. Difference between those amps wont matter too much, to be honest, i'd grab this amp for proper head room
