Subsonic Filter??

Probably asking on the wrong forum unless you want misinformation.
Short answer I would still use the SS filter if you are not 100% sure what notes all your music plays... Don't want to be surprised by 18hz out of nowhere and throw the coil out of the gap.
I'm thinking it should be set at one octave lower to keep the sub protected.

 
It should be set 1/2 octave lower, so if tuned at 40, set SS filter at 30. Ect. You think it's safe to play 20hz when tuned at 40hz in a ported or T-line? Ported no, T-line I have only heard a few and never built one so I can't say 100%

Yeah. Can't find anything on the subject anywhere. I know a ported is a completely different ball game though.

 
That rockford probably is set at 28hz. That's where most mainstreams put them. IMO I would do the alpine 500 before bottom barrel rockford. Or even better the JBL MS 500.
