Subsonic filter settings

OK, so I am building am spl box for my IA DR 18", and I am using 3-6" ports, 5 cubes tuned to 45hz.

What would be a safe setting for my ssf to still be able to bump some music?

It's a Diamond D61500.1, and I'm not sure how steep the slope is..

Thanks, Marcus

Yeah, w/ 3-6" ports I figure it iould unload pretty fast below 45.

Another question. What is the difference between a 0db tone and a -3db..? Is it just quieter by 3db..?

If so, why not just turn the volume down?

It means it was recorded at -3 db.

a sub sonic filter is basically a high pass filter set in the lower octaves.. its mainly used for ported box to help prevent the cone from bottoming out since a ported box below tuning freqency loses its "air suspension"... set it as low as possible

and the purpose of -3db test tones ect.. is because the majority of music isnt recorded at 0db.. infact most is like -6db's
