alright so i'm trying to do a budget audio system. I don't need the best loudest system out there. I have figured out I can do about $65 or less for each sub. Are there any that you would recommend? I'm probably going to be running 2 12's. The box I'm getting is for 2 12's and it's sealed. I heard the kenwood's and sony's last night and the kenwood's sounded decent.

thanks

I still need to get one. I thought I'd work out the subs first then depending on that I'd decide on the subs. For subs and amp I have about $300. I know it's not a lot but I'm not looking for the best system out there. I will also be putting new front speakers in at a later date. So either a separate amp for front and separate amp for subs or 4 channel and run both. I'm still new to all of this so I need a bit of help getting started. I'm even thinking maybe it'd be a better idea to get a single 12.

I've never heard them but if you like how they sound and ouput that up to you but as far as how good they are idk! 1200 peak i would think, rms is what matters!

i don't know how expensive alternators or adding a good battery is but that wouldn't come til later if at all. and i don't think i'll have that powerful of a system. i wouldn't run a 1200 watt sub at its peak anyways. i think it has 400w rms or something.

dont forget about wires, fuses rca's and such. that will eat up at least 50-75 you can find good deals on good gear around the forums. check ebay or craiglist always has deals.

Sup Deano....

For 300bucks you would be surprised how much you can accomplish.

First things first....do you have an aftermarket Head Unit?

If you do then you are good to go and all you will need is a decent amp kit, amp, and sub(s) + sub box.

I agree with rick about getting one nice 12 instead of a couple just because of your budget.

One thing you need to think about is space.....how much space can you use in your specific vehicle? If you have the space, a nice 12 ported would probably suffice.

Also, once you choose subs, you need to know what your final Ohm load will be to choose the right amp. A dual 4ohm sub would match up to most Small Mono amps that are stable at 2ohm mono. A single 4ohm sub would match up well with a 2ch amp that is stable at 4ohm bridged.

For really cheap amps, one of the first place I check is http://profilecaraudio.com/amplifiers.htm They are cheap but you will get decent power and decent build quality. "alot better than getting some cheap *** Dual amp from BB or Walmart.

For cheap subwoofers I would check these links....

http://Http://edesignaudio.com one 13Kv2 would sound alright with a good 300-400Wrms

Their are a bunch of setups you could go with honestly, but hopefully these links will get you started on your comparison shopping

thanks for the info. i have a pioneer DEH-P3900MP headunit. as for space i have a trunk thats fairly large. i'm not too worried about wires and such. rcas are simple and pretty cheap. as for amp cables and fuses i can get a 4G kit for like $50 correct? kits usually come with most everything i need. for boxes, my friend wants to sell me one of his. either a single ported 12 or a dual sealed 12. single for $15 and dual for $25. i don't want a custom box cause i'd end up spending lots of $$ for one. but i think for a decent budget setup my friend's boxes would work.

For the boxes, you want to make sure what the specs are of the ones that your buddy has for sale. If you get a sub and the boxes he has do not fit the subwoofer's specs then it is going to sound like a**.

also, If those boxes are just prefab enclosures from a store then most likely the ported one is tuned pretty high and if you are listening to anything other than Rap it will probably sound a little sloppy, I may be jumping to conclusions and I have been surprised by some prefabs....but most of the time they ****.

For amp kit.... check out http://knukonceptz.com .... they have really good prices

Just do some searching around and do not get in a hurry. Getting in a hurry will just disappoint and you will end up wanting to sell or trade everything in to get better gear.

i checked some of those subs out. the ones that caught my eye were the cerwin-vega VMAX 12 and the kicker CVR12. a single of either of them would be in my price range. would they be good choices? as for boxes, they look to be the average size and shape of most boxes. he has 2 polk subs in the dual 12 enclosure.

how much would it cost me to get a single ported box for a single sub? and how easy is it to build a box?

Maybe a single 15inch type r...run it off a kicker kx400.1?? Prefab box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif??
