Subs vs. Coaxials

The human ear can withstand more decibels in the bass region than say, 1KHz. You'll receive hearing damage if you expose your ears to 130dB at 1KHz, but 130dB at 40Hz ain't shit.

You can always turn the sub volume down to match the main speakers, but that defeats the purpose of getting big subs and big amps.

I installed a setup for my cousin on a factory hu the pr1.1000 (not 100% on the model but it does right over rated) with two 12" mojos (at 1 ohm) and a set of tweets in the front no amp to the tweets and he is barely reaching a point where he has problems if any hearing the stock door speaks and gains half way on the sub amp.

You'd be suprised how loud 130 on music isn' if you can keep it clean. I know my home setup can get around 132db's full range and even people who don't like "loud music" end up turning it up into the 110 range usually, which is louder than most people's fronts on here can even get. Real life is rarely under 90db's lol.
