Subs up, port back? Subs back, port back?

I am in the process of building a box for my HDC3 15s. This is a daily setup and I am unsure of which way to fire the subs. The box is big enough that the subs could point up or to the back so I am wondering which would be best. 8.5 cubes after displacements, tuned to about 35hz w/ 144 sq. inches of port. I will still have plenty of clearance to my rear gate if I point the subs back. (~10")

Input? Suggestions?

is this supposed to be louder or play lower or what? Its going in a good sized SUV if that matters. Thanks for the input.
