I was driving and my subs were playing fine. I had them up pretty loud then they just stopped working. the amp isn't in protect, I didn't smell anything, I pulled out the subs and the wires were still attached, the amp fuses are fine. The amp still turns on...no idea what happened. Help please

I disconnected the sub wires at the amp and reconected them. I got out the continuity tester and tested out all the connections from the amp to the terminals, to the terminals to the subs and its all getting a connection. And when I touched the tester to the sub coils they made a "popping/scrathing" noise and moved a little bit. The amp has the green light on for power and not the protect mode light. Is it possible the amp got stuck in protect mode or something? or is it my subs?

the amp is a Hifonics 1606D and im running 2 of these subs - http://dls.se/en/car/prod.html?produkt=en_138

My gain isnt too high...but I dont see why thats a problem if they wont even play at all anymore

What should the DMM read?

Try connecting some other speaker to the amp to see if there is anything coming through it. Check your RCA's, maybe the amps not getting a signal from your head unit. If that were the case, the amp would still turn on. If you have an iPod or something, you might try connecting it directly to the amp input to see if you get any sound through the amp.
