subs sounds like its bottoming out with doors closed...

My friend has a 2000 Ford Ranger extended cab. He installed his system in it last night 12' Comp MTX sub in a sealed box and a Kicker KX1000. With both doors shut and windows up the sub sounds like it is bottoming out and is not very loud at all. The amp was set with a DMM also. It sounds like this at lower volumes too. However when he opens both doors it does not sound like that and it gets at least 3 times louder.

What is the cause of this and is there any way to fix it?

its not that. I can hear the sub makin the bottoming out sound.

either there getting a clipped signal or subs could just be junk. how big of a box are they in?

I think its 1.5 cubes. its just one 12. the sub isn't junk thats for sure. Its a pretty nice sub. Sounds amazing with the doors open.

I used to have it in my car and it sounded great.

its most likely the cab rattling....there is no way that the change in pressure in the cab would cause the sub to bottom out??? it would however chance the way the sub puts pressure on the cab....

next time when its hitting, go to the sub itself and put ur ear right by it....thats how u know if its the sub or not

same thing happend to me , turns out it was my rear panel slapping against the metal...
