Subs sounding terrible Video

RIP CA.com.
So I have 2 Obsidian 12s on an AQ1200D. Had this setup for a little while now and never had any problems with it. One day they just instantly sounded terrible and had very little output. I thought they blew. Bought brand new Obsidian 12s and put them in and they are doing the same exact thing.

With the gain/ bass boost (which ever one is with the remote on AQ amps) all the way down they sound fine. Turn it to a normal level and they sound great then suddenly sound like crap and the clipping light on the remote starts lighting up until its turned all the way down.

I normally have the remote all the way up with no clipping.

I replaced the wiring going from the amp to the subs also. Whats next swap out amps with my buddy?

I just sold a a/d/s on ebay as not working, it was doing what your describing on one channel very little and very distorted output, if I remember right it's a fet or a pre amp something to do with or attached to those going bad? Try swapping amps your problem will probably go away.

hate to say this but that is blown that is coil hitting.
play each 1 freeair...
you can hear it in the vid? i don't have any speakers on right now so I had to go by the description.

I bought brand new Obsidian 12s and they did the exact same thing. I Ohm tested all 4 of them and they are good.

Im thinking its the amp too. It starts clipping super easy when the problem starts. Ive had this AQ amp for a long time.

***** I bought 2 new subs thinking the old ones were the problem but I guess not. :/

Its also completely random when they start doing this. Some times I can play them for 5 mins before it happens and then some times 5 seconds.

Think I found the problem. Checked voltage and its at 13.8 and then drops to 8.5 volts when the subs start sounding like that. Battery voltage sticks at 13.8. So I guess its a bad ground or my amp is done for.

Glad to hear your new subs aren't fried //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Hopefully the AQ is fine too!

Check your fuse and all ground and power connection points. Use a meter at each point with the system playing and see what you are getting. I have seen bad grounds, not-quite-blown fuses and loose connections cause all kinda of issues like that.

Buy a aq2200 or 3500 and run all four of them ******** sounds like a winner!!! it has to be the amp in my opinion Brand new subs making that sound unlikely but possible test the coils on the old ones see what they are reading But it just sounds like a good excuse to run four now lol

Found the problem! The fuse holder was melted! One end would read 13.8 volts and the other 11 volts... Stole the circuit breaker off my truck to use until I can get another.

Id love to run all 4 of the 12s now but I just don't have the room in this car unless I get rid of the back seats. Trust me I've been really thinking about it but Im trying to tell myself not to. I would run 2 1200Ds strapped since they are all D4 subs.

Glad it was something simple and cheap. Thanks everyone.

Whats left of fuse holder..

Glad I have 4 GOOD subs now.
