Subs smokin

I couldnt find this through the threads when searching. But today they started smoking out of the ports!

one looks like its movin at the opposite direction as one of the other. so a friend said polarity might be mixed inside box. it hasnt been soundin real good since i redid it. i adjusted gain, ISF, and Lpf yesterday. Maybe that could be the problem. Any inputs?

If you turned the gain up and adjusted the SSF (ISF?), yeah that could be the problem. the LPF not so much.

I would check your polarity and wiring once again as well.

Shared chamber box, right? I bet if you look, one of the subs isn't moving as far as the other one either.

Sorry to say, but it sounds more like one of your sub's coil fried, is a dead weight, and the force of the other subwoofer is moving it (hence out of phase). That smoke came from somewhere.

If Im correct, the other sub wont last long either, as its now playing in what it perceives to be double its normal box size.

lol my subs started smoking too, i had 2 type r's in a custom made box (the box had type e's in them before) I couldnt figure out why they would start smoking after being on a while. After i bought another type r i got a new box and when i looked into the old box there were burn marks as if there was a fire in the box. The back of the type r's have been partially melted (the metal). the type r's were so big there barely touched the back of the box wall and if the box hadnt been sealed then it probably would have been a full out fire. lol

somehow one speaker wire in the box came out of the sub. and it came completely out of the speaker terminal box. so i took that 16awg out on both sides and redid it with 12. did my speaker wire to the amp with 12. wired it back to 2 ohms. played it for 10 seconds. and it works. its dark and my neighbor already came out. oops

it seems like it happened after messin with my amp. but in the box wires came off. so idk

I always squeeze my terminal connectors down with some pliers after I slide them over the speaker terminals.
