subs pointed into the box?

now i know its for looks but why do they do it?

i was flipping through a car "dream book" and i see a set up with 2 subs in the normal position and 2 with the cones pointed into the box.

now im not sure how it was ported (if at all) but how does it sound compared to just regular?

im guessing its like a band pass box sound?

these were the autiobahn flame subs in i remember correctly

The biggest reason is if you have a very tight space you can gain much-needed box size...

so now my next question is, how does it sound?

would it hit just as hard as a box with the subs not inverted, but with the same box displacement as with the subs inverted?

this looks very cool since you can see what the subs are made of, instead of just the "cone"(speaking from eD's point of veiw)

You won't notice much of a difference at all really...it's pretty much for looks, and maybe room issues...

They do use the same 12 spoke basket structure, however...

um, how do you find out how much room the sub takes up?

IMHO, if the subs stick out so far from the box, then making the box a touch longer(to make room for the extra mass that the sub takes up) i bet the box/subs would be smaller then if they were inverted

i may be wrong but thats just how i see things, everyone wants to flaunt the goods

The sound stays the same pretty much. The biggest reason for inverting is to get more space inside the box like snova said i believe. Other than that it is a personal prefrence if you want them regualar or inverted.

but if u invert them youll have to reverse the polarity

well, i was not sure on that,

i just thought that you have hooked up so that it fire into the box, but reversing it makes much more sence.
