Subs making a weird noise?

Well i got my subs installed like a 5 days ago or something like that. WEll this morning i was early bumpin and its like when the bass hits the cone sounds like its hitting something or something. I dont know how to explain the sound. The sound is louder the louder u have music. For instance when at like 15/33 its not that loud but hearable over the bass. 25/32 clicks its a lot louder and still hearable over the bass. Ive noticed it isnt hittin certain notes with as much output. Its making me very fustrated. Any input will help. Thnx Mark

umm not good... check for air leaks? make sure the box is all sealed up

Its all sealed up and it sounds like its comming from the cone of the sub. Cuz if i put my ear up to the sub its alot louder than drivers seat.

Only place i think that might not be sealed up is where the install company drilled some holes through the back of my box to get the wires from the sub to the amp. The wires are very snug in the holes tho.

The sound is something like if u put ure finger on the cone while its movin.

Sounds like either the coil is bottoming out, tinsel slap, or the coil is miss alligned causing it to rub.

I thought these new L7's were very reliable its my luck i get 1 and it wants to mess up and be gay.

Only way to fix...

Bottoming out=turn it down

Tinsel slap= find a small felt pad and glue it to the back of the cone where the tinsel is.

Coil rub=turn it down or get it reconed.

When its low volumes it still makes the noise it just aint as loud which either is the bass so its just as hearable.

I had the same problem with one of my CVR 12s. And it resulted in the tinsel lead breaking.
