Subs in or out?

what do you gain or lose by installing the subwoofer with the Magnet to the outside of the box, rather then inside? Is there any sound difference, or do people usually just install the speaker the traditional way for space reasons?

You will gain an extra 10 points in the bling category at the finals. 15 points if they are audiobahn since the judges have been bought with a large pizza and a six pack of beer.

Better cooling in some applications. Space constraints for others. Looks. Not much else.

It's possible, however the difference is very negligable. Take the speaker displacement and add it back to the total volume of the box. There's your "better sound". You won't notice a difference unless you have a golden ear. Last time I checked, the TL can't tell the difference either.

no real reason to mount a sub inverted unless you need that extra .1-.4 cuft the sub takes up.
