Subs in a mustang...

I've got a pal new to the car audio game...he wants to run a smaller setup in the trunk of his '06 Mustang that he got for his 16th birthday. He doesn't want to run anything too big because he needs room for sandbags in the trunk in the winter. Then, I get a text at 8:45 last night with his genius idea: 'Could I just put sand inside a sealed box so that way it'd still weigh the car down while still having bass?'

forget sand, put 1/4" steel plate to the bottom of your box, or thicker if you need more weight

You could so the sand but you'd Need to find the displacement of the sand bag and id be scared it might bust or something.

I have over 500 lbs in my trunk. Not that hard to get it heavy when you start adding batteries.

Yeah, he just wants to run a smaller setup though. Like, a ten in a sealed enclosure. He seriously wanted to know if he could just pour sand into the enclosure and still run the sub.

If running a 10 in a sealed enclosure, why would he want the sand in the box? You will just have to build a larger box to accommodate for the displacement of the sand.

Yeah with one 10 the box won't take up the whole trunk.

Leaving.plenty of room for sand or like timmy said, just learn to drive the car

I knew a guy named Joe Black that with his Chevy, he had two ProTech 12's and sand in the box. One of the nicest installs and very nice sounding cars of the mid 90s. You could probably google his name and find it.
