Hey guys I have a 1992 Geo Prizm beater that I plan on putting a setup in.
I have a old school Lanzar Optidrive 50C amp that I'd like to put into use.
This amp is rated at 800x1 @ 1/2 ohm.
What kind of subs would work well with the amp I have. I'm really not looking at getting a different amp, so I'll use this one.
I have 2 Premier TS-3001D4 subs that I discovered won't work good with the amp. I'd assume I need dual 2 VC configuration? My budget is 2-3 hundred dollars if possible.
I'm new to the whole car stereo stuff and I've searched the forums and cannot find much info on the amp and what subs would work well with it. Would this be safe to run 1/2 ohm load daily since the amp is stable?
If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be greatful.
Also, after searching the forums, I've discovered that the "BIG 3" is very needed for my car so I'm going to do that.
The factory alternator on the GEO is 60amp, so I'd say it wouldn't be sufficient for the setup I'm after. I've contacted Excessive Amperage and they quoted me $340 shipped for a 180 amp.
Can I get away with the BIG 3 with the factory 60amp ALT? Or should I go ahead and get the upgraded one?
