Subs facing up...?

What's good guys? Haven't been on here in AGES, doubt anyone remembers me but its all good. Getting bored with my current more SQ geared setup (4 8'' assassins off ~1.6kwrms) and i have some money coming my way so I'm gonna do something a little more intense. Just want to get some ideas.

What's the general opinion on having subs facing up in the trunk of a car? Because if that is doable/won't sound like complete shit I can fit more/bigger subs. (the cone's would be parralell with the ground if anyone's confused on the orientation i'm talking about, rather than your traditional setup with the subs facing the back of the trunk.)

If the up firing thing is ok I'm thinkin 2 18''s assuming i can fit a big enough box. Otherwise 2 15''s back firing or 3 12''s...Plan on running 2.5-3.5 kwrms to the subs once I get a new alternator in and the big 3 done.

i run my subs up with a port out the back firing in the hatch of my car, it allows the subs to load off the back glass, always worked for me, and sounds great

I think I'd have to get someone real clever with a box design to squeeze all the space outta my trunk, but if its possible I think 2 18''s getting like 1.5-2 Kwrms each would be pretty sick.

I had the 18 facing up and it did just dandy imo

Good luck, the enclosure in my avatar is pretty much the smallest I'd run a single 18 in (ported)...but if your trunk is twice that big, more power to ya

That car in your avatar's a saturn? Pretty small? My trunk is pretty big, but maybe not quite big enough...have to measure it out tommorrow.

Yes, that's my 97 Saturn SL2's trunk with the 18" btl in it...ive definitely seen smaller (trunks), it isnt tiny...but isnt massive either...just as a visual reference, that enclosure is almost literally my entire trunk and it's the smallest I'd run a single 18 in really.

Unless you drive one of those old 'boats' like an '81 Lincoln or something, I cant see it fitting without walling off behind your rear seats and porting through the rear deck...it'd be a very large enclosure.
