subs dont work with Pioneer DEH-P660

hey guys I cant seem to get my subs to work when I use my ipod on my pioneer DEH-P660. I have it hooked up from the ipod to the rca INPUTS on the back of the radio. It will play music but the subs wont work. I can get it in aux but still nothing. Am I doing something wrong?

Make sure the subwoofer is turned on, like skadude said.

I don't mean to insult, I could be WAY off, but you don't have your ipod plugged into the rca output for the sub do you? I guess if this were the case you wouldn't here your ipod at all. Thats my only thought.

nope I picked up a plug from circuit city that one end plugs into the ipod and the other plugs into the rca inputs on the back of the radio. The subs work with the radio or a CD but not with the Ipod. I also have no volume control over the ipod with the radio. I can turn it up and down with the ipod but not with the radio controls.

Sounds like you need a pioneer iPod interface, not some shitty circuit city adapter.

oh I've never heard of that before, I'll have to look into it a bit.

Yeah. Using the interface, you should be able to perform all functions using the headunit instead of the iPod.

exactly, with just the adapter you have, you'll have to use the ipod to do everything. Think of the plug that you are currently using as a set of head phones only the speakers are in the car not on your head. One thing you should still be able to control from your hu is the eq, make sure that you turn off all eq's and boosters on the ipod. This will make the sound much better. You may be able to use the hu to control volume, but you'll probably have to set the volume on the ipod to max, this will drain the battery much quicker. This is one big advantage of the ipod interface, it charges the ipod. I hope I helped.

Also, I don't know much about how the iPod plays music, but it may have a highpass filter built into the headphone output.
