subs blown?

I hooked my friends sytem up for him and his subs sound like crap. everything is hooked up right. they have no bass to them, they sound like farts when they hit. are they blown?

Have you broken them in yet? Are they wired properly? Is the box completley sealed off? You can tell if they are blown by pushing in on them.

older pioneer 12's, a bridgeable 200 watt amp(optimus), and a small hatckback box, they have no bass and sound like poop. everything is hooked up right

how many subs are there??? im probably guessing at best they'd only be getting 100watts a piece...which isnt that great....thats probably why

are they bridged properly?

im assuming single 4 ohms, meaning you are either showing your amp an 8 ohm or 4 ohm load, if its accidentaly wired in series, youa re getting like no power at ll..

also, it sounds like it could be a phase problem...

ie, wired in reverse...

Also could be a bad box, shitty amp, or prahaps worn out dcoils. Check the gain levels on the amp too.

well I can take a look at them one more time, I just dont know what else to do. I have everything hooked up correct, there is just no bass to them, it sounds like sh*t. I have tried wiring them up different too, what else could I do? What does a blown sub sound like?

usually?

nothing...

what happens is the V C blows, so it locks up and wont move...

im serious, check your volt-oh meter on each VC independantly...

then, if thats not the problem, make sure your subs are wired in teh same phase.
