Sub/port direction in a Tahoe

I'm building a ported box for my 2001 Chevy tahoe and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with sub/port direction in this vehicle. Did you get louder facing sub up, port back or sub and port back? Those are about my only two options for the setup. I'm using 2 12" L7s. Here's what the box will look like. Either with subs on top or facing back.

i personally like sub up port back.... i have used subs with subs back port back boxes and i just like the sound better. maybe a little louder to the ear.

General consensus is yes, but the only way to know for sure in your vehicle is to try it both ways and see...

I've done it both ways and metered it both ways. Subs and port(s) back will be louder in the lower frequencies. Subs up port(s) back will be louder at your peak but you will lose some on the low end.
