Sub Firing Direction?

I'm looking at adding a single sub to my 03 4runner. I'm going to be building a custom cargo drawer system with a sealed off section for the sub. I have the option of firing it any direction except to the rear with the design I'm looking at. Is there any benefit to firing direction (goal is SQ, probably a single 10 at around 500 watts rms), and if so, which direction would work best?

well rear is the norm

but sealed enclosure I'd say you want to load of one of the sides

I know rear is not good for you but that's the best I've found for SUV.
