Sub box terminal sup affect airspace?

I'm about to build my first box and I has a question on the terminal cup - I need to buy one but I've been thinking - it looks like most of them are deep enough to intrude into the airspace of the box... Is this something you account for and build a tiny bit bigger because of or do people just ignore it? It will be a 0.299 cube sealed box for a sundown E8 v.2.

Mmkay thanks.. It will be 1/2" so... we'll see I suppose.

Also, does MDF have any advantages over birch ply? The ply is tempting because I'm trying to keep the car light for speedzz

true birch is great if you don't mind spending the funds to get it. As for the 1/2" wood you will be fine, it won't stick into the box but maybe 1/4" at most
