Sub Box Design

I had a 2004 chevy extended cab 2500 HD with 2 rockford Fosgate P2's and it sounded pretty good. I was running them off of a Punch 450.2. I actually still have them and recently put them in my 07 GMC Sierra, since them I have gone to theJL stealthbox with 2 10W3's which is a little harder hitting and louder but I also swithched to a JL HD 750/1 amp, but for the money I was more satisfied with the RF Punch setup since I got it for around $200 used from a friend versus about $2000 for the JL setup. The P2's were downfiring and the JL's are also, so I dont know if the downfiring affects the performance?

downfiring in an extended cab truck can actually improve performance. but if a box sounds like crap in the first place, downfiring won't help it. i've done a few different setups in my s10, and i've concluded that forward firing or downfiring work pretty well.
