Sub Box Design/Wiring Questions

Alright, to do with the d-block, quick question. With this, am I pretty much running one power cable from the battery into the cab, then putting that into the d-block, splitting it into 2 and going into the amps? For example, if I were to get THIS, I could run a Positive/Negative 4-gauge wire in, then a Positive/Negative 4-gauge to the sub amp, and a Positive/Negative 8-gauge to the speaker amp?

Edited previous post. Also, what kind of fuse do I need, and where do I put it? Sorry about all the questions, this is my first time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Awesome. Is there anything cheaper? Maybe this http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=4340 ? This is all costing a bit more than I wanted it to, and I'm trying to pinch pennies.
Car audio is an expensive hobby. To spare some money you could hold off on the big 3 to see if you even get dimming issues, most likely you will. But that could be next paycheck or christmas present.

You know what you need though... I don't feel like spending the time (all you'd have to do is some research on what the cheapest option would be, to buy a wiring kit or seperate parts. woofersetc is pretty cheap so you could write down some prices and add it up yourself).

-X amount of feet of 4 gauge (measure it out, w/ a flexible tape measurer like the ones used for sewing)

-X amount of 8 gauge (just from d block to speaker amp, speaker amp to chassis ground)

-some crimp terminals for the 4 gauge (2 4 gauge(battery, amp ground,) one 8 gauge crimp for other amp ground.

-fuse holder (4gauge in and out max of 18 inch from + terminal on battery)

-d block (4gauge in w/ 2x 4/8 gauge out)

-16 gauge (apparently coming w/ the comps)

Out of curiosity, what amps are you installing?

Just remember that taking short cuts could end up being more expensive. You may not be happy w/ the part you got and end up not using it, and getting what you should of in the first place.

Oh and don't install a capacitor //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Take pictures and show us, that way we can critique the install and give constructive criticism (in the form of flaming sometimes). Then you can look back later and laugh, or be proud of your first install. But just know that if you don't want to show how you installed it, you probably shouldn't have installed it like that anyways.

And when in doubt be sure to ask!

Alright, got some help from a friend and this is what I've gotten down to:

2 - RCA Cables - Head Unit to Amp.

3ft. - 4 Gauge Power Wire - D-Block to Sub Amp.

3ft. - 8 Gauge Power Wire - D-Block to Speaker Amp.

10ft. - 10 Gauge Power Wire - Sub Amp to Subs.

1 - Amp Wiring Kit - Power to Amps. "Big 3".

1 - Distribution Block - Split 1/0 Power Cable into 4 and 8 to Amps.

Everything look good?

Out of curiosity, what amps are you installing?
