sub box carpet..

what type of carpet would you recommend for boxes? i can imagine a carpet with a straight or high pile wouldnt work too well. im guessing a low loop pile would work best...or outdoor carpet.
You can use basically anything you want, but yes a low pile would be ideal. I used patio carpet on my last box and it worked fine. Also, I Wal Mart sells automotive carpeting rolls that is perfect for boxes.

- Can someone possibly go into more detail about how to do the sides, I always fuck them up. I dont quite understand how he does the X technique in the tutorial, which is what I have always followed (or tried to) when doing my boxes...

That carpet works great for boxes and its cheap. It does not have any stiff backing so you can stretch it and curve it with ease. Ive used it several times and it is great.

I'd also like to add that I just used some dull scissors to cut the edges. Im sure if I would use a sharp carpet knife my boxes would look alot better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

im pretty sure that the left over carpet on the sides is cut into 4 triangles like this. Of course in real life there would be no gaps in between the triangles because you would stretch the carpet out and glue it down.

Right, I understand the concept, but he doesnt explain how exactly to fold the carpet over, or how much to leave hanging over the sides...

home depot patio carpet for teh W1n! I have had lot's of luck with spray adhesive too, and also cut out the speaker hole last, and have the hole smaller than your subs outside diameter and when you screw your sub down it will pull the carpet really flush looking. Vinyl looks trick too (fabric store) but you have to sew the corners as it only stretches 1 direction. Put your seams on whichever side is the bottom too.
