stupid question about ohms

Whats the differnce between a sub that is a 4 ohm sub and a 2 ohm sub? My friend is trying to tell me that a 4 ohm sub will sound better. I thought it had to do with the configuration of the sub and how it took in power(I have no idea.. hence my post). Anyone wanna clear this up for my retarded ***? Sorry if this has been answer and is a dumb question.

Thanks for the clarity

Impossible to say without knowing what amp we're dealing with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Generally, you want the lowest impedance your amp is stable into.

Alright thanks, My friend wants to get 2 10w7's and I sold him a hifonics TX1005 that i didn't need and he wanted toknow if it would work with it.
Since the 10w7's are single 3ohm voice coils, you could wire the subs in parallel to the amp for a final 1.5ohm load. Since the amp is 1ohm stable, the amplifier will handle it.
