so if some of yall don't know, i had this box made for my 12" but the guy who made it messed up and tuned it too high. its well built, just the guy did his math well. so im stuck with this box that is tuned to about 37-38 hz. i had on Obsidian 12 in their but it was dual 2 and my amp isnt 1 ohms stable so it was wired to 4 ohms and it just sounded like crap and i didnt want to buy a new amp and a new box. so i sold the obsidian and i threw my friends type R in the box wired to 2 ohms and it isnt that bad. it's seein about 650 rms atm. well my question is, if i put a eclipse ti in their...will i be ok for a little bit? the depth on the box is 14 and the depth of the sub is 8.5. i know the sub is sort of going to be suffocated and underpowered but should i be ok until i get a better box?

you can always invert it...im actually using my 15 in my room right now almost as like a HT sub, and i inverted it just for shits and giggles and it actually got a LOT louder lol.

Are we supposed to be able to guess the size of the box? Also is the sub a 12? Why do you think it would be suffocated?

Could u not cut the port end off ur current box, cut a new panel for that end (have a sealed box at this point) and then use external aeros to get the tuning u want?

i suggested that but he said he'd just assume not rock a ghetto setup lol.

add some poly fill batting to the walls and you'll get the tuning down 2 maybe 4 hz.

poly fill raises tuning in ported setups though i thought

box is two cubes. and i think it will suffocate it because of how big the sub is. the port is 2" by 12.5".

I have no clue what youre worried about. Maybe if the box were like 1.5 cubes it might be suffocating it. 2 cubes would be fine for that sub...

still slows the back wave making the sub think it's in a larger enclosure. if OP's box is 2 cubes @ 37hz, poly will make the sub think it's in a 2.2 cubes box tuned to ~34hz depending on port size and length.

You would be ok for a bit. One of those try it and see things. You may like it, you may want a whole new box in the end.

well you get the full 2 cubes outta the box, only down side is mechanical noise but your box is in a trunk so it shouldnt matter

you're trying to lower tuning, inverting the sub will increase your enclosure's overall volume lowering your tuning.
