Can someone explain to me whats going on here? What are those magnets, how are they different from the regular stacked magnets, and are they more efficient?

Plenty of companies have used that design before. It has some performance advantages, like cooling. It also has the advantage of being cheaper to manufacture, since those sized magnets are much more common.

No, its not a neo motor. Those are just small stacked ferrite magnets.

Why would you suppose we don't see this as often anymore? If it has both advantages in performance while at a cheaper manufacture cost shouldn't it be a popular design for companies?

I dont know how effective it is at focusing a magnetic field. And I can only assume the field is weaker, since there is less magnetic material. You could stack higher, but coil height would be a factor as well. perhaps someone like sundownz or splaudio could chime in with more info on this motor type.
