Stuck.....Please Help me

do you have sufficient power going to the amp? have you tried the subs on a different amp? You really shouldn't need to turn the gain up that much if the input into the amp is normal... This is how it should be wired just incase...

Well If I were you I'd try to narrow it down if you can. I don't know what supplies you have but I would check the power line voltage during use, like right before it cuts out (btw what gauge is it?) Try using an external audio source ie ipod and use that instead of your current input and see if it still happens ect...

Funny that you posted that diagram b/c that's one of the exact ones I went off of and it still shuts off..........even at low volumes now..........my gain is up like 25-30%
check your wires, its very easy to make a mistake.

My power wire is 4 gauge.........my ground wire is 8 gauge....I know I need to upgrade my ground wire but that still shouldn't be shutting off my amp every time I turn it on.......right?

First your ground wire should definately be the same size as the power wire. I'd do that first.

Second, you're not setting your gain correctly. You should have all your EQ settings at 0. NO BASS BOOST. Try to keep your sub LEVEL at 0. If you must you can even turn your sub LEVEL up all the way but only if you need too. LEVEL is very different than bass boost so don't get them confused. Turn loudness off if you have it.

After everything is 0 and your sub level is adjusted, THEN follow the directions to set your gain:

A dmm would be ideal, but you can do it by ear. I had a hard time doing it by ear two months ago and had to use a Digital multimeter. If you hear distortion you should back off the gain, you do not what the amp to start clipping (may be a reason it's shutting off) because that can destroy your subs and amp.

I don't have a sub level................My head unit is kinda old school and only has bass, treble, fade, balance, and a loudness button. Sooooo you're saying turn all those settings, even treble, to 0 and turn loudness off..........then turn bass boost(remote, and amp) all the way down and then begin setting my gain?????

Yes, treble and bass at 0, no loudness. Is this bass boost on your amp? Doesn't really matter. OFF!

Take the remote knob off the amp, those remotes can get you into trouble, besides it eliminates another factor. Use the gain knob on the amp to adjust. Follow those directions if you can, I know they are kind of complicated.

Try setting your gain like this first. If it's still weak you can try starting all over and putting loudness on and then setting gain.

PM me if you have probs.

If what tsenfw said doesn't help, how are you getting the signal into the amp? Is it rca's from the hu or are you tapping into the rear speakers and going speaker level into the amp. If it's the latter make sure those rear speakers are actually getting audio, ie make sure your fade isnt set all the way to the front...

Ok, well I have tried everything everybody has told me. I still can't get it to work. I even went to a local audio store and made sure the subs were wired right and everything and they WERE......It sucks because the guy there didn't help me out one bit and acted like he didn't care.......all he would do was tell me how to wire them and then couldn't tell me what would be wrong with my amp or anything.....I'm just at the end of my rope with this thing I guess, I have no more options, no more things to try, nothin......just stuck with this amp and subs I spent a couple of my paychecks on and now have Noooo money. Has anyone ever sent anything into Kicker to maybe get it fixed????? If I don't have a warranty or anything from where I bought them, can kicker look at my amp or something......how much would they charge to fix it, if it's even broke.

How long is your ground wire? And as mentioned it should be the same size at the POS. Is the amp getting hot and shutting off?

Try wiring the subs to an 8ohm final load and see if the amp will at least support that as it could be a fuxored amp...
