stronger than mdf?

just wondering, i heard about a box material that's suppose to be stronger than mdf and easier to work with but more expensive, anyone know what i'm talking about or am i going nuts?

why do you need anything stronger than mdf for car audio purposes? if you build a box right you will never need anything stronger.

there's high density fiberboard, which i believe is just called hardboard, but i don't think you can get it as thick as you can get MDF.

gapless birch is probably what you were talking about

the reason for a stronger material is because of mounting depth. i need to make the walls of the box as thin as possible without losing strength.
