ok i'm watching the riced out show called street fury on g4/tech tv and they are showing this chamelion tri turbo supra, that the guys all saying how it has a supposed 700 horse and makes full boost at 3800 rpm ok well next he points out thats he has 4000 watts? my ears go up and I hear him say hes got 3 15's and custom JL amps? then he goes on to say they are 15W3's each hooked to a 500.1 and then some bs about a 3 way setup and a mention of a 300.2's on those ok if my math is correct thats only 1800 watts.... THEN I heard the BIGGEST BUNCH OF BS I have ever heard "it does 161 db's" I spit my pop out and burst out laughing then he's like "oh we don't turn it up with the windows up cause it'll blow the roof off" ya thats BS anyone else see this

my 1600 max amp is so crazy man. i hit a car and the airbag came out but i had my g-unit thumpin and the 4000 watt system i had blew the airbag right back into the steering wheel.

Well, in his defense he may have had the system metered at 161db. Doesn't mean it's actually accurate (could be, who know's). The measurement equipment may have been old and/or uncalibrated, etc etc. Or it could have been metered w/ the mic in a very unorthidox position.

Though, I'm sure people would have laughed at Nate Munson if he went on national television and said his single 10 hit 169.8db..........

if it was a giant wall of bare mdf and a giant port I could understand, but they were sealed, fiberglassed and in the trunk all show. and I honestly think he's pullling numbers out his ***, but legal on a TL he aint doing a 161

just for reference.......Scottie Johnson only does around a 166...............4 18" MT's, 16 MA 4000's, craploads of yellowtops, and a Tottie special box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yup its been in about 4 magazines heres a quote from Import Racer

"Providing rear-window-popping bass are three JL Audio 15-inch subwoofers powered by five JL Audio amplifiers. The entire ensemble was stuffed into the rear of the Supra's hatch and mounted in a huge fibeglass enclosure. The 7000-watt stereo system has proven dangerous at several shows as onlookers wait eagerly to see Rob's rear window come apart. The enourmous amount of bass coming from the three 15-inch woofers actually flexes the rear window of the hatch and makes it look as though it is ready to come loose." lol 7000 watts my ***

Like I said....he may have been metered at that....but that doesn't mean the meter was accurate //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

161db is kinda of an odd number to pull out of the air, which is why I almost think that he may have actually metered at that on some old, inaccurate meter.

I dunno....just trying to be nice and make the guy seem like less of an idiot. I may be fighting a loosing battle with that though.....LOL

I think you are fighting a losing battle. There's just no way he could accurately have been benched at that high a number. Maybe if you put the mic inside the sealed enclosure...
