strapping 2 81000d's

2 of thesehttp://www.woofersetc.com/p3416/RWE352--MB-Quart-Reference-Series-15"-1400-Watt-DVC-Subwoofer.htm

my friend bought them without knowing anything about car audio and he already had the amps...so im trying to see the best way. ive read they can be strapped but need some type of crossover from mtx?

Dont need to strap those amps together, (which you cant anyway with that series)

Take each sub, wire the coils in series (4ohm total each) then wire both subs together for a final 2 ohm load for one of those amps.

If thats a MTX 81000D your talking about, it makes most of its power at 2 ohm anyway, (unless its been modded to run lower). Subs RMS is 700 each, so one 81000D would be perfect on the pair of 15s.

well the amp would be running at its peak then right? and he would have an extra amp that he wants to use...Why cant i strap them?

This is the amp correct? Def would not be running at peak. Ive owned several MTX amps from the last 10 years esp these models. All were underated. Im positive that amp puts out around 1200 to 1400w RMS at 2ohm.

Not to mention, the subs you have are not "SPL" so id be careful trying to feed them alot of power. I think the single 81000D plus the 2 15s would be a perfect match, but its your call man.

I dont see why not. I just see it as a waste to try to strap those amps together for a pair of 700w 15s. I think one amp will push the pair fine.

Look at it like this, this leaves you room to upgrade to another pair of 15s off the other amp or look into something beefer that will take a 81000D each

those mtx 81000d's put out close to 1300 watts at 2ohm @ 12volts....and a little more at 14 volts..

you cant strap these amps together... you can strap the mtx 1501d's, and the newer mtx amps.

x2 .. i agree. 1 amp on 2 of those subs will be enough power to please you.... those amps put out some juice...

two 81000d's will shred those subs so fast it will make your head spin..lol..

you can stap these amps, you do need a crossover with a phase switch on it. that is the difference between the 1501d an the 81000d. the 1501 has a buit in phase switch were the 8100d does not. the only reason i added to this old post was so if anyone was reading it like i was would not get misinformed.
