stolen

Sorry to hear about what happened. With alarms, it's good to have a backup battery and extra sirens for the alarm. That way even if they cut the horn and battery cable quickly the alarm will be still going off, and this will bring attention to them. If the guys are pros though they will get it if they want it bad enough, all the precautions will slow them down.

The best thing is to not to be noticeable. Don't bump your system at least a mile before your house, and make sure you're not being followed home.

How do you go about doing that?

Also, would buying a lot of sirens actually work for any alarm, or do they need to be compatable with your alarm?

dude. if you dont want people breaking in, and you got a few bills to spend.

http://www.usace.com/

order a DIY car kit. they can bang on your windows all night, they aint getting in. but you will still be paying the $1,000 deductable to get new laminate and new windows. because they will wanna smash them all - and possibly the rest of your car, and the tires if they cant get it.

REMEMBER, there is homeowners insurance, if your parents technically 'own' the car, then they can claim it under homeowners insurance, (if it was on your property) and your deductable is most likely ALOT cheaper, possibly nothing at all.

but your best bet, is to run a small motorcycle battery stashed somewhere else, hooked up to the alternator, specifically for your alarm. they will try to cut your main battery, and it will still run off the motorcycle one.

and yes, look into getting multiple horns for your alarm, put them underneath the car, inside the car, everywhere. also - try to find a way to make your stereo go off too - that tends to keep people from sleeping //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

and the biggest thing, if they STILL get inside.

security screws, all different kinds - EXCESSIVE amounts, cover boards that are bolted\secured the same way- epoxied down over the amplifier mountings and subwoofer mountings. make SURE your HU is chained to the firewall (make sure your system is all setup and working before you do this - lol)

just do everything you can to piss them off and make them waste time trying to rip apart.

best of all, security camrea in your driveway, and moton house lights. keep a big flashlight at the window, and a baseball bat near the door. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

X2, I have heard of this happening(pisses me off) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif Please tell me you installed it yourself and also not in your driveway.
what does it matter if he installed it in his driveway? thats what i did and i toar out my whole interior

youd be surprised at who drives by and looks at your HUGE 15" REXXX subwoofer sitting on the ground awaiting installation. and thinks, wow - that sub looks awesome.

and remembers where you live.

i would be pissed at first but then be like hell yeah i get to get new shit. my box is bolted to my rear seat braces and is quit the snug fit cuz i was pulling on it and my friend was pushing on it to get it in. there was a shop here in lansing MI that after about a month of someone getting an install there system would get stolen and it was them and then they would turn around and sell the stuff again. and i bump my shit all the way to my house. kuz thats why i got is to be loud

My car is not flashy, and the only way you can do ANYTHING with my system is from my trunk. You can pull down the back seat, but there is no access to my trunk that way. And with the sub box in the way, you're screwed. You can maybe fit your arm in my trunk from my back seat, nothing could come out of there.

i had an amp and 2 subs in a box stolen out of my blazer a month a go, insurance only covers the broken lock... now i got aftermarket insurance so i'm good to go... but what was funny was that THE IDIOT DIDN'T EVEN SEE THE AMP I HAD SETTING THERE NOT HOOKED UP! he stole everything around it.. sigh, but he did get away even though we have it on video... stupid f'n campus police...

?... Meaning what ?

i think what he means is (at least for me on firefox) the auction is a complete jumbled mess of text on top of other text and pictures layerd under excessive amounts of text. i cant really read any of that auction at all.

otherwise, from what i could understand from the title, looks like a good idea.

i've read that guys auctions on other stuff. its all a gigantic jumbled mess of garbage like that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Well it says that it can be used with any car alarm, with or without the original car alarm siren. If a theif cuts the power or cuts the siren cable it will continue to scream because there is a backup battery in the siren itself, and you need a key to shut it off (key inserts in the back of the siren.) And you only need to use the key if they in fact cut the wire, other wise you can use the alarm remote to disable to siren. Only $30 with shipping, so I ordered it...

Also, the siren is 128db's, is this loud?...

i saw you ask that on the other thread. as far as a a siren goes, i couldn't tell you if it was loud or not. i mean on a stereo system thats generally considered not very loud, however, according to a chart like this

then it looks pretty loud //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif ???

Well maybe it doesnt seem loud for a stereo system because of the low notes being picked up?

Sirens are all high pitch tones, so hopefully it will be enough to alert me, or at least scare someone off... But I am going to wire it up with my original alarm siren, so it should be farely loud.

Also, does anyone know how to install more sirens? Do I hook it up to my brain, or just hook each siren up to the alarm's original siren?

I am thinking of buying a couple more sirens, they are farely cheap...
