Well yesterday (before IKE ruins the whole weekend) few of us decided to go out.

And one of the guys lost his iphone in the club (probably slipped out of his pocket).

I kinda felt bad coz i suggested that club since bartender was the girl i knew.

Anyway we browsed the internet and didn't find certain info.

I wanted to see if anybody on the forum had definite information if that iphone can be located, and if yes then how?

After we left the club in half an hour when i was trying to call his number it was already going straight to voicemail. Our guess is that phone is switched off, Sim card trashed, and phone will be sold.

I would contact ATT and Apple as soon as possible. It does have gps, so if location services are turned on, it COULD be tracked, just not sure if apple or att WOULD do it.

I imagine apple can use the serial number if that iPhone is ever plugged into iTunes again... but yeah, those are the 2 places I would call asap and if they can't do anything... classifieds.

Did you try calling the club?
I doubt it can be found, did he have insurance on it?
Guys in the club said never saw it.

Well maybe he's covered since he purchased with AMEX and according to websearch it says when u purchase with AMEX u don have to worry about the cost.

The only problem he had some private info there, all his contacts and etc.

The private info Im sorry, but as fasr as contacts, if he synced it to his computer like he sould have all that is stored on the computer through itunes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Perfect example of why you should always put some kind of password lock on your phone so that people can't access your stuff if it gets stolen. Simply a password at startup most times will do

So if he the phone is connected to itunes ATT will locate the phone.

or they just might?

I ask coz there were so many stolen ipods and i seriously doubt even 25% of them was returned. And the onyl way to use ipod is to connect to itunes.

thats what i wanna do on my older iphone 1st G. But i could not find how to do that.

IMEI???????
since most of these phones owened by the average user are locked to att (at least in the US) as soon as another sim is put in ATT can identify the handset and either call/sms the user or use the gps to locate handset.
I dont' know if they will locate it, but it's worth a try isn't it?
As far as a passcode go to settings, general, passcode lock.....
apple could simply locate it and it wouldn't not cost much at all, however they dont because they are cheap *****.. and yes thats true, read it off yahoo i think it was a while ago
thanks guys.

i like my older 1st G better. I prefer the alum to plastic back. But hey to each his own.

He's just a cool guy and u cud tell he was upset. We work together and i hate when things get akward: " -u wanna go for lunch?

-no, thanks i better keep my phone"

But yeah if any extra info will be much appreciated.
