found out a relative close to me stole my identity and made a credit card and charged about 1700 to it

what can i do so that he does not go to jail and it doesnt affect my credit

or make it so its not my responsibility to pay?

If his family doesnt have jobs, he doesnt have a job, you dont have much choice except to report that your ID was stolen, otherwise you'll be stuck paying it off.

You have a choice. Either he committed a Federal crime and is going to jail and your credit is screwed for a couple of years, OR he committed a Federal crime and is going to jail and your credit is screwed for a couple of years. He's ****ed and so are you. Put his *** in jail for a bit. That's not being rash, that's being a good person and teaching him that it's NOT OK to do shit like this.
