Not sure if it has happen where your at, but I work for an investigation unit in near Houston. There has been a few male subjects going around to "Private Sellers" with cars for sale in the paper, etc. They act as if their going to buy the car, that day. They want to test drive the vehicle and take it to the shop, so they leave you their identification which we have traced to a fake Id after an old gentleman seller jotted down the Drivers lisence number and fake name. From what were guessing their going to a local lock smith and having keys made for a couple dollars. In the night the cars are magically disapearing.
We've also had a numerous amount of people going to dealerships which they aren't asking for identification. They are taking in vin numbers off cars and getting keys made. So keep your vin covered when parked. Make sure to un-cover while driving as it is highly illegal.
Thanks Guys, be safe.
