Stock HU, Right side of car doesnt play.

I currently have a 2003 Maxima with a stock non-bose stereo system. Everything was working fine until I went into a restaurant, bought some food, and when I turned the car back on after I was done there was no sound coming from the right side. Its been this way for about a week. What could have caused this?

I currently have all the equipment for a full system, which I have yet to put in. Which makes me wonder, will this issue effect my system install? If I had a new HU, amps, etc. Is it possible this issue with the right side can persist? What do you think it is?!

If the stock system in not externally amplified... I would say the deck's right channel amp is dead. The deck was older and it gave out, I wouldn't be concerned the new gear...

maybe a right side speaker wire was grounding out and fried the right side?

Could be...

As long as the OP replaces the speakers and adds an external amp. He should be golden.

This. Happened in a friends truck and I told her not to turn it on until it was fixed bc it would work sometimes but most of the time the whole right side was dead. Turned out to be a bad ground and bc she didn't listen, fried all but 2 speakers. It's possible it could be the right channel in the wad unit as well. But either way, you can fix both issues with your system install.
