stock HU problem

Well i removed a stock corolla head unit and put it in my garage to store thinking i would never put it back in, but today i had to and i just plugged the things back in and nothing happened. I put a cd in and it injected it like it had power and actually started playing the cd. nothing worked the volume source absolutly no buttons worked the screen was blank but it played the cd. what could have possibly happened. Is it possible the saw dust ****ed it up?
