stock head unit?

I have an older alpine head unit that does not have an aux port. instead of buying a new unit with an aux port I was thinking about putting in my stock head unit. will a stock head unit work with my setup? i have a rockford p1000 amp and a single 12".

you will need a LOC off the speaker outputs - that amp doesn't have high level inputs. David Navone Engineering has a nice LOC with a remote turn-on output.

what model Alpine? some can have an AUX added with a KCA-121B.

ah, that's a pretty basic HU. newer CDE models have aux and usb on the face. a newer HU will be a much better option for you.

what kind of performance will i lose if i use a stock unit? and do you have any suggestions on a double din unit?
