i was talking to a guy at a gas station i met who was running 4 06 xxx's who said he knew Steve quite well and also said he lost db's but i personally dont know so i took that with a grain of salt.... i dont really think it matters as steves systems are insane and dont really need to prove anything as it is.. Since he is still with the FI's i would think he is happy with them for a reason.

I'm gonna ignore the steve meade part and answer the underlying question here, are BTL's louder than MT's.

The standard 2 slug BTL is as loud as a MT itself

The more options you add you can make the sub louder, or queiter.

For instance adding cooling reduces motor strength but adds more thermal handing. On the other side of things tightening up the gap, for an SPL application will increase BL which in theory could make the sub louder. So in conclusion i dont know if he gained or not, but im sure it handles the power better now.

Meade also changed amps to RF T4Ks at the same time he changed to the BTLs so there wasn't an even comparison between the MTs and BTLs. But yes he said he got louder.

the day he put the btls in he called me later that nite and told me his body hurts cuz the bass is alittle stronger than the mts...on the mic i belive he gained a db or 2...but at the same he did increase in power about 5k watt
