Stereo was stolen, can I just have an aux wire?

Just as the title says, some spineless POS broke my window and ripped out in double din dvd player. Along with ripping it out the thief also destroyed my on board DIC, so I can no longer tell whats wrong if a warning noise goes off...but enough of the crying.

I have a 2005 pontiac g6 with the "monsoon" audio system. Like I said I had the dvd player, but I was wondering if it would be possible for me to buy an amp and just have it wired so I just have a auxiliary cable running up through my dash so I can just hook in my phone and play music that way. I really don't want to go without music, but I also don't want to put another unit in my car.

Is something like this even possible?, basically just bypassing the stereo and plugging directly into the amp/speakers from my phone?

In theory, yes, you could run an RCA cable to the back and use a Y adapter for all 4 channels and then in the front get a RCA to 3.5mm adapter and just plug your ipod or whatever into it. I say 'in theory' because I'm not sure exactly how it'd actually work, you'd also need some sort of relay to tell the amp to turn on, since you won't have a HU with a remote wire to do so.

not much .it will work you just need to put the remote wire on a switched power source

Car alarm in your future?

Came with one stock, but it only goes off if someone breaks the window then unlocks the door. this guy smashed out the window and jump in and out without opening my door. I know, nice alarm system Pontiac.
