Stereo, Monoblock differences

Other then efficiency, what other factors come into play. Pros and Cons.

As in 2 or 4 channel amps bridged vs a dedicated monoblock for a subwoofer.

Right now I have a Crescendo 1000c4 at 500rms 4ohms bridged in stereo. I'm looking at getting a BC2000 whenever it comes out (monoblock with 530rms at 4ohms.) I would like to get a good reason to get a monoblock other then to run a rear stage or something //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

mono has 1 channel hence the name mono.

stereo is higher frequencies and can dip low but nothing that should be in a subwoofer.

coaxials /full range drivers are stereo signal reproducers

subs are low signal reproducers

When you bridge a stereo amp for en example a 2channel it make it play as 1 channel ,yet you have to still use the low -pass setting to reproduce the proper low frequencies when using a sub. You can also use in stereo for hi range/hi pass when using full range/stereo/coaxial speakers

fixed

lol.

OP i think the biggest reason you'll find is that class D's simply handle power better (efficiency). class a/b's do very well at keeping distortion low as to not have any noise be played through your speakers, this isn't exactly the case for your subwoofer as it's not as distinct as a typical speaker, so by knowing this companies can design amps to play at higher distortion levels than class a/b in order to obtain more power..

There are 2 & 4 channel class D amps with low distortion figures also...

Mono block / internally bridged class D (or varient) only makes sense for sub bass.. full range class D for mids and highs, or A/B... class D will be more efficient but considering the duty cycle of program it isn't a huge difference... would be nice to see some class H amps in car audio but no one makes them..
