Stereo load?

Actually a two channel amp rated at 400watts x 2 should provide 400 watts on each of the two channels. A couple of things to consider are wheather the 400 watt rating is peak power or RMS power. If peak, it will seldom make that much power and will be full of distortion at that level. If RMS, It should make a clean 400 watts continuously at a given load (say 4ohms) per channel. I assume when you say per speaker you are connecting one speaker to each channel. Keep in mind that the load (ohms) determine the output of the amp not how many speakers are connected. If you connect a single 4ohm speaker to each channel or a single 2ohm speaker to each channel your output power will change significantly. You could connect several speakers to each channel and if done correctly your amp would see the same load as if only one 4ohm speaker were connected. In this case the power per channel at a given load would be divided between all speakers connected.

Yeah im connecting 1 12" to one channel and 1 12" to the other channel each speakers impedence is 4 ohms. So a 4 ohm stereo load, 400 watts rms. So it is 200 watts per speaker, or 400watts? One person said 200watts per speaker one said 400watts per speaker?? Im thinking 200watts to each speaker??

This is the friend asking this one.

He has a Autotek 50.2 he bought off ebay just like mine he got it for 98 what a *** and he wont trade me!!!! Its 400 wattsX2@1ohm (stereo) so it is 400 watts per speaker then?
yup if it says it does 400X2@1ohm then it does 400 to speaker A and 400 to speaker B //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

but to get that wattage you would have to have both woofers wierd to 1 ohm. or if your runing one woofer make sure to bridge it at 1ohm stereo and

Yeah hes gonna run his @ 1 ohm stereo im running mine at 1 ohm mono @800 watts too my 2 12's a little more bumpage never hurt anyone right??? Im thinking hes gonna run 4 12's @ that 1 ohm stereo load i think that is what he wants to do. 4 DVC 12's wired at 2 ohms a piece, it should slam im sure after all its in a blazer so it doesnt take much....
