Stereo in a Corvette

I have a 02 Hardtop corvette and here is the plan

i have a

Pioneer 880 PRS

Alpine PDX 4.150

5.25 coaxial Alpine Type R's in the back

no sub will be used

i need a new set of fronts though

Ive had

JL XR 525's

Boston acoustic 3 way Pro 6.53

Alpine SPX-17 REF and they have all been destroyed competing with the windows down and the loud exhaust or maybe im just doing something wrong

im think about getting the new SPX-17 PRO's or something that will give decent mid bass to make up for not having a sub any more.. had a 10w3 with 500watts but it just didnt sound good in the up firing box in the well

I gave up competing with exhaust in my maverick....

so what is your question? what comps to get?

im having trouble finding speakers that will survive 150rms at these levels of volume since the car is very loud and the windows are usually down and the speaker placement is terrible in these cars

How do you set your amplifier gains?

thats one of the things i need help with, alpine said to turn them up at 2/3 volume until you hear distortion and then back them off alittle

im sure thats a very rough estimate... should i use the HPF if i have a 880PRS?

Deaden the car right.

Ditch the rear speakers.

Try a shitload of door speakers.

You clearly dont have them crossed over well if you keep blowing your mids. Ive had my CDT 6.5's in my Corvette for 5 years now and they're plenty loud to get over the ANSA exhaust I have on it. And they're not even that great speakers to begin with.

the sub is not performing the car id like and im blowing the mids that is correct

they have 2 channels of a PDX 4.150

any opinions on how to properly set the x-overs? just point me in the right direct for threads and yes the doors are semi deadened... they have the holes plugged and 1/8 inch foam over the entire thing to create compression again the panels...

what am i missing?

just dont let anything below 80 hz play on the mids and it should be just fine.
