stereo for a chick

Listen to this guy.

the powerbass big 5-channel 1100.5x, is a good deal too and cheaper than the polk.

remember, if your going for "sq" then no rear amp, bridge channels 1-4 for

200w+ x2 and run that to the ppi's. You can run a decent set of cheap coax's

off deck power for rear fill. Stay away from 3-way or 4-way 6x9's. Pioneer

makes some decent coax's.

You would need a d4 idq to run 2 ohms off the powerbass sub channel.

Heres what I would suggest, coming from a guy who runs pretty cheap.
Get a couple sets of decent Sonys for say 70 dollars a set, a cheap 12 inch, alpine would do just fine for that (and an amp to go with it ofcourse), then pick up a small amp to power a couple of the speakers, or a 4 channel amp if you can find a decent one. That amp is going to infuse your speakers with some distorting bass, so you'll want bass blockers for the speakers, so that you can still turn your sub bass up without turning the speaker bass up as well. That is, ofcourse, if the headunit doesn't already have the tuning capabilities for that, But I have a pioneer and it doesn't. With all this your going to need the wiring. Some 12 guage for the sub and 16 for the speakers wouldn't be bad.

Anyway, I know this is all pretty cheap stuff, and its not high class or anything, but for the average street car this will be plenty loud, I promise. Remember to 'break in' your speakers and sub, dont let your girl blast it right out of the box or the speakers wont last as long if shes planning on cranking it all the time.
Really? bass blockers?? lol

800 is a pretty good budget if you can get wires for cheap, not cheap wire.

The best way would be to search for used stuff since its always cheaper than buying from a store.

I just did a complete system in my fiancee's tribute for right at $800.

I used the following:

Clarion DXZ785USB - $129 new

Genesis Profile 16 Components - $165 new (from a friend)

Rockford Fosgate Power 351S - $90 (used) for the components

Memphis MS124D - $50 (used about 1 week by a friend)

Orion HCCA 225 - $100 (used) for the subwoofer @ 2 ohms

The most expensive thing on her list was a back-EMF negative feedback controller that cost me $265. I originally purchased it to use in one of my vehicles then was bit by the "power" bug.

Anyhow, this little gizmo allowed me to install her 12" subwoofer in a .65 cubic foot sealed enclosure and it extends the bass all the way down to 20 Hz:

It isn't the loudest setup I have ever done for the price BUT it is one of the best sounding setups I have ever thrown together at that price level!
