steps to take not to blow subs?

today I was messin with my newly installed subs, i really have no clue what they are but they're definatly old school. Out of nowhere, it burts into awesome mode and starts shaking the garage doors of the entire lot ( work in a auto shop).I just want to here some theories how this happened.

ok, the system was from a customer i repo'd, so i took his car and his system, i have no clue about the subs but theyre definatly old school and 12's. when i say low bass, i mean volume at reg, bass knob to the lowest point.
it is thee sickest shit ever, and i didnt even pay for it.

10 subs running on 100 watts would really sound like shit.
Go for a 15 or 18"

My cuz made a smart move and bought a 18" "peavey black widow" guitar speaker and ran it on 750 and that is LOUD
