Step 1 of the "Big 3"

take the 5 min of your time and do it then tell us if it fixed it. I would do all 3 but the one is a start. I didnt know about doing all 3 before a but when I had my plow truck and had 2 bats i had very bad dimming when using my plow and i did the grounds to the chassi and it did help alot but didnt stop the dimming but it did help alot. Like I said its only a 5 min procedure and its not gona hurt anything its only gona make it better. its like wiping your azz with a extra piece of tp when you think your done. one more aint gona hurt.

if your only running 500 wats and your getting dimming... and you have aspirations of a bigger system someday.. I would spend the money and do your Big 3 in 1/0. I've got a 98 EX that I used 1/0 on and I run around 800 with no dimming... at all. never.

PM me and I'll build you a Big 3 kit for cheaper than you can find anywhere else.

ill look into doing all 3. but i have a question: for the last step of the big 3 (alternator to postive battery post)... what kind of fuse would i need if my amp uses a 50amp fuse, runs @ 500watts, and my alternator is 70amp?

the 4awg wire im using isnt the greatest either. its one of those generic amp kits i bought off ebay and these are just spare wire. should i still use this generic 4awg wire or spend the money to get high quality wire?

wire is wire though right? since it is going to be only additional wiring on the car.

and how do you know what fuse to use? why ANL and not AGU? fill me in please...

heres a pic of my generic 4awg power wire: would this be ok for big 3 ?

Yes, wire is wire. But you want to use the appropriate fuse rating for the wire size.

Use 300 amp ANL for 1/0 gauge.

The largest AGU fuse I've seen is 80 amp, way too small for 1/0.

what would be best for 4awg? ANL fuse that is. would it be ok to upgrade to a higher fuse (like if i need 100, can i use 110?)

Hmmm, I have a Honda Civic running about the same amount of power. I had dimming lights and hard starts. Well since I put a 1fared Cap it sounds better, hits harder, and guess what else. No dimming, no more hard starts. I found the best deals on caps on the net at all the companies listed on CARAUDIO.com This alt to batt thing has me concerned, do it wrong and you may loss more than dimming lights. I'm running 4 gage wire, split to a 4ch (65 x4) and 2 ch (300) amp. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif
