I recently bought an 03 Kia Optima, and I replaced the factory stereo unit with a Pioneer DEH-P3900MP.
I had everything hooked up and it sounded great except for the radio. I realized that the problem was that I forgot to connect the power antenna wire. The HU harness doesn't have a power antenna wire, but I've read that you can also connect it to the ACC wire so I went ahead and did that.
Since I did that, though, I've had very loud static coming through all the speakers. The static is present regardless of the source and even if the volume is turned all the way down. The only thing that stops it is to turn the HU off. I tried wiring the harnesses back to the way they were before there was any static but that hasn't helped. I also hooked up the factory unit and there's no static when using it.
What gives? Did the Pioneer just suddenly go to crap on me?
